Welcome to the Industrie 4.0 Forum
Digitalization will affect and shape all sectors of industry. Be it a revolution or an evolutionary process – each and every company must find its path to Industrie 4.0. The VDMA accompanies and supports its members: You can find an overview of the Federation's diverse activities in the three core fields of information, knowledge transfer and networking here.
Virtual commissioning is becoming increasingly important across all industries. Against this background, the VDMA guideline "Virtual commissioning" is currently being developed. It will be published in autumn 2020.
Together with a project advisory board consisting of VDMA members, the VDMA is currently working on the guideline "Retrofit for Industrie 4.0: new benefits with existing machines". Release date is autumn this year.
Around 50 VDMA members visited Lenze SE in Hameln on 16 January. The highlight of the experience exchange event was the company's Plug & Produce Showcase, which illustrates the advantages of OPC UA in a very concrete way.
In which areas do the engineers in mechanical engineering work? Where are the needs? Is a shortage of applicants to be expected? What is the age structure? These and other questions are answered in the VDMA engineering survey. The detailed version for the year 2019 is now available.
The guideline "Value Generation from Machine Data 4.0" supports small and medium-sized mechanical engineering companies in the profitable self-exploitation of machine data. The focus is on the entire value chain, because: Only together can machine operators, machine manufacturers and automation producers realize the maximum benefit from machine data.
The results of the Enquete Commission "AI and Economy" are generally well received by the VDMA, as KI is clearly named as a key technology for the economy. However, from the VDMA's point of view, increased coordination between science, industry and civil society is absolutely necessary in this important area.
Are you interested in participating as a speaker at the Forum Industrie 4.0 at the Hannover Messe 2020? Here you will find information on the topics on which contributions can be submitted, the framework conditions and the Call for Papers.
German production technology presents itself at the largest metalworking trade fair in the ASEAN region. The VDW uses the event to present umati - universal machine tool interface for the communication of machines and IT, for the first time live in Asia.
The industry associations welcome the award conditions for industrial and agricultural mobile radio networks in the frequency range 3.7 to 3.8 GHz. From now on, planning, installation and configuration of private 5G mobile radio networks can be started.
Industrie 4.0 is a widespread topic in German mechanical engineering and plant construction in 2019 - but more than half of all companies are still on the way today, either outsiders or beginners. This is shown by the latest evaluation of the Industrie 4.0 Readiness Online Self-Check.
The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) funds R&D projects in the "Innovations for Tomorrow's Production, Services and Work" research programme that demonstrably improve manufacturing technology processes by using AI technologies in and on machines and production resources.
At the meeting of the VDMA working group "I40 and AI" on March 12, 2020, representatives of VDMA and member companies will intensively discuss the project idea "Uncertainty estimation in neural networks" as a successor of the project InPulS. Other VDMA members with an interest in research are cordially invited.
The tax incentives for research are on the home straight. But what opportunities does this offer companies? You can find out how the new instrument works and what you need to consider at our VDMA Info Day on 26 February 2020.
With the event "Industrie 4.0 - Identify, calculate and finance first projects" on 27 June 2019, the VDMA wants to support interested companies step by step on the way from the Industrie 4.0 vision to individual concepts and solutions.
The future is „on“ – new multimedia report on www.humans-machines-progress.com
Machines that can think for themselves, complex 3D printer components, smart glasses that are able to communicate with machines, and logistics that can manage their own organization. These are not fantasies of science fiction, but already the reality in Germany’s factories. The multimedia report „The future is on“ delivers insight into daily digital work.
OPC UA Companion Specifications –an important prerequisite on the way to Industrie 4.0
The definition of uniform interfaces in production is a prerequisite on the way to Industrie 4.0. The VDMA is currently focusing on the interface standard OPC UA and is developing industry-specific OPC UA Companion Specifications. An OPC UA Companion Specification is an information model suitable for all manufacturers which represents the real interfaces between components, machines and systems.
Prof. Dr.-Ing.
